American Cheese Tour at Marquee Theater
Hi-diddley-ho there, Neighborino(s)! It’s always nice to see good things come together. It’s like comedy and music; mustaches and sweaters. Blending all four in a neighborly fashion is Okilly Dokilly; who accompanied the American Cheese tour at Marquee Theatre in Tempe.
Seeing Okilly Dokilly take their places on stage was something I’d been hoping to see since I first heard that there even was a Simpsons themed metal – more specifically Nedal - band. While there were some hiccups in the Neds’ opening reneducation, the good ol’ Flanders charm shone through. After the first song, the microphone was swapped out for one Homer hadn’t previously borrowed. That is when the show really began.
Being a Simpsons fan from a young age and a fellow lefty, I didn’t have a chance when my freaking ears caught the first waves of Okilly Dokilly. Yet, they only get better after seeing what the Neds bring to a live show. Aside from a perfect blend of raw Nedal and humor, Okilly Dokilly shows a dedication to what they do. In full Flanders’ pink dress shirts and green sweaters – and in their home state of Arizona during summer no less – the Neds are an experience best seen live. And while the Neds’ van had broken down a few days after the show; Ned Vanders was repaired and swiftly back on the road. Okilly Dokilly will be starting the Texas stretch of the tour at Trees in Dallas on August 9th.
